The Christian Life – Pt 3 by Ps Larry Elliott

The Great Exchange

When we get Born again God regenerates our human spirit and it becomes ALIVE to Him again!

Last week: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (repeat verses 17&20)

Been B.A. IS LITERALLY A MIRACLE WE ALL GET TO EXPERIENCE, but often don’t recognize it!

(Romans:- while you were dead in your trespasses and sin He made you alive)

Titus 3:5 NKJV “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,”

SO, we are made alive and we are regenerated, But that not all that happens there is also a Devine Exchange that takes place! We move from Darkness into the Light, we now have the capacity to live a God-Ordained Life, in other words, living the life God would live here on Earth!

John 10:10-11 AMPC “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep. [Ps. 23.]”

“The God kind of life”

Titus 3:6-8 NKJV “whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

  • Titus understood who he was in Christ, He had been give Grace and Hope (benefits) but also had to show the commitment (conviction) to do the right things with them and keep doing them!
  • Titus had a revelation of living hIs life the way God lived it!

Galatians 6:9 AMPC “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.”

If we are going to build a consistent “Christian Walk” which is of great value to us and others we need to understand the depth of this verse!

God has a good harvest for each of us and together as a church, the way we tap it is by Grace and Good Works

The thing that trips us up is we “quit” doing the right thing in a consistent manner ………if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.”

My “DRAMA” this week….. His words were clear, accurate & kind….I understood them and it produces courage in me to keep Trusting the Lord with Faith & Patience …..

Yes we serve the God of suddenly, yes we serve the God of the impossible, but we must remain Faithful, be doers of the Word and be diligent in doing good works, that’s staying positioned in FAITH until we see our HARVEST!

TO OFTEN WE WANT THE BENEFITS WITHOUT THE NECESSARY COMMITMENT AND CONVICTION to Live for Jesus!

Matthew 16:24-25 NKJV “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

JESUS teaches us the paradox of discipleship, you become by following, you find your life when you lose your life

This is an intentional decision to put the interests of the Kingdom first and foremost before your own!

Matthew 16:26-27 NKJV For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.”

How many of us exchanged our souls for things that did us no good before salvation and then spent a large portion of been saved trying to overcome them becomes our souls were damaged! (Some still fighting)

BUT THERE’S VICTORY IN JESUS, but are you willing to learn!

Position determines Condition BUT THEN Your Condition reveals your real Position and when we get these two in-synch we have momentum!

Our Righteousness as a free gift through JESUS and no longer requires the observance of external laws! But an inward willingness to be apprentices to our Master as we learn to be led by the Holy Spirit!

I Corinthians 11:1 NKJV “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”

WHAT WAS PAUL SPEAKING ABOUT BEFORE AND AFTER HE CAME TO THIS STATEMENT TO GAIN CONTEXT (letting your life glorify God (be growing and glowing) and winning the lost

1 Corinthians 11:1 AMPC “PATTERN YOURSELVES after me [follow my example], as I imitate and follow Christ (the Messiah).”

The Christian walk is becoming like Christ and doing the good works His planned.

BUT THIS DOESN’T happen in a vacuum we need relationships and accountability, someone needs to disciple us and it never ends!

And that’s discipleship, a disciple is someone who follows with the intent of becoming!

When we do things God’s way we won’t fail, we may have a few roadblocks, we will need to keep growing and changing but we will be winners in our lives and what we put our hands to!

What is the “well doing” or “good works” we are to be doing in order to “REAP A HARVEST” And Getting God’s results

We find it in context by what Paul is teaching leading up to V9:-

Galatians 6:1-3 NLT “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. (Love God / Love People) If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

  • Cultivate and look after your relationships on all spheres
  • Walk and help each other in our journey to serve God better
  • Remain humble and gentle so we are not tempted by those we are helping

Galatians 6:4-5 NLT “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

  • Don’t be consumed by self and your opinions, remember part of humility is not been a “know it all”

Galatians 6:4-5 NLT “Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them.”

  • Be generous to your local church, your giving makes a big difference.
  • Be consistent and this includes respecting them and giving honor to them for the “OFFICE”

Galatians 6:7-8 NLT “Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

  • Original says “Sowing” what do we sow, we sow our lives into His Kingdom, we give ourselves to make Him Famous
  • Psalm 1 Which way are you moving “in step with the Spirit” towards JESUS or “out of step in the flesh” towards liv by in the wrong place (righteous Lot)
  • Realise today for some things aren’t coming right and won’t until you “get in step” God’s not into blessing our flesh!

Psalms 1:1-3 NKJV “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

Galatians 6:9-10 NLT “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”

How do you this if you are not part of the body? The local Church is the Hope of the world (Two references to Psalm 1, Blessed are Jeremiah 17:7-8)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (10 virgins, 5 were equipped and 5 were thoroughly equipped)
