The Blessings of Obedience – Ps William Zongwana

THE BLESSINGS OF OBEDIENCE

What is obedience?

In simple terms it means hearing the Word of God and acting on it. It implies aligning our will to God’s will, doing what God has asked us to do. It is when we completely surrender to His authority and based our decisions and our actions on His Word.

Obedience is a journey, taken by choice for one to be successful and blessed in life.

That is you need to take time to listen carefully to your instructor and do accordingly.

Luke 5:3-9 NKJV  Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;”

Be a good listener

Luke 5:4-5 NKJV When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”

  1. There is power in listening to the Word of God and shaping up our minds and our lives “LET DOWN THE NET”
  2. Obedience is proof of our genuine faith in God “LET DOWN THE NET”
  3. Obedience is proof of our genuine love for God “LET DOWN THE NET”
  4. Obedience is proof of our genuine surrender and dependence to God “LET DOWN THE NET”

Be the hearer and doer of the Word

Luke 5:6-9 NKJV And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.

Faith obeys the Word

James 1:19-22 NKJV “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Doing the Word is the true way into the kingdom.

Matthew 7:21 NKJV “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”

Let us stand together, in agreement,in doing the will of God which leads to proper and complete salvation of our souls.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word. We commit ourselves today, to trusting your Word and doing what it says. We courageously choose to obey You instead of others or even our own desires. Thank You for being gracious, even when we have been disobedient but because of Your grace, we choose to obey and follow Your Will. This I pray in the mightly name of our Lord andSaviou, Jesus Christ. AMEN
