A life pleasing to God

A LIFE PLEASING TO GOD

Galatians 5:24-25 BSB “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.”

In my previous teaching we saw that we need to walk in the fruits of the Spirit, in order that God

may be glorified in us, so tonight we will look at living a life pleasing to God, and this will also reflect

in the fruit we present to the world. So tonight I would like to look living a life that is pleasing to God,

and this scripture says is based on our faith:

Hebrews 11:6 AMP “But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.”

Scripture tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith, so what is faith? According to the

above scripture, faith is believing with all your heart that God exists and that He is our rewarder. If

we truly believe that He is God, and that He is always and constantly with us, then surely, we need to look at our lifestyles. Let’s reflect on the fact that without faith it was impossible to please God. It

does not say or refer to our works, but that we need to believe that He is who He says He is. Not

only that but if we earnestly and diligently seek him He will reward us. Now that is an amazing

promise.

Do you know that in the Bible there are close to seven thousand promises that God has made to us,

and those promises can only be accessed by faith and patience for God is our rewarder if we remain steadfast in Him. One of the promises God made is:

Deuteronomy 31:7-8 BSB “Be strong and courageous, for you will go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance. The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”

Colossians 1:9-10 AMP “For this reason, since the day we heard about it, we have not stopped praying for you, asking [specifically] that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [with insight into His purposes], and in understanding [of spiritual things], so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord [displaying admirable character, moral courage, and personal integrity], to [fully] please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight and fervent love for His precepts];”

Once more we find not only that we need to bear fruitful lives but also increase our faith with a

clearer insight and love for His word. We need not see it if we depended on that then we have no

faith, scripture says:

Hebrews 11:1 AMP “Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Finally in Rom 8: 24 we are told that our hope if seen is not hope for who can hope for something he

has already seen. So in order that we walk in a pleasing way before God we need to take Him at His word, it is to be the Yeh and amen in our lives, whether we feel like it or not, for God is not a man that He should lie. Father we come before You tonight that you dwell with us, and Holy Spirit, Sir, help us to increase our faith so that we may live a life that is pleasing to the Father.
