Waiting on the Lord: Strength Restoration Purpose

a SIGN THAT Says 'Wait on the Lord'.

Beyond the Rush: How Waiting on the Lord Brings True Restoration

Ever feel like life’s a mad dash, demanding more, faster, stronger? What if the real secret to thriving isn’t about speeding up, but about mastering the art of Waiting on the Lord? This past Sunday, Ps Larry took an overpowering look into this powerful spiritual discipline. He reminded us that waiting isn’t passive — it’s active, intentional trust in our Father’s perfect timing and boundless restoration.

If you missed it, no worries, catch the full sermon. Ps Larry kicked off his sermon by reminding us about the incredible significance of each place Jesus shed His blood. This is a continuation of our impactful series, “The Blood Applied”. If you haven’t yet, make sure you catch up on the previous messages.

The Sevenfold Power of Jesus’ Shed Blood

We learned how each drop won back something vital for us:

  • From Gethsemane, the Blood of Faithfulness won back our very will.
  • From His torn face, the Blood of Identity restored our honour and true identity.
  • From His scourged back, the Blood of Redemption ransomed our peace and health.
  • From His thorn-pierced head, the Blood of Conquest gave us victory, abundance, and success.
  • From His nailed hands, the Blood of Productivity granted dominion over all we touch, ensuring prosperity.
  • From His pierced feet, the Blood of Purpose restored our walk in His divine will and equipped us to stand firm against the enemy.

And then, the seventh, the profound Blood of Restoration — shed from His broken heart when pierced. This blood absorbed our hurts, our separation, our coldness, replacing them with wholeness, compassion, love, hope, encouragement, and joy. It’s the ultimate exchange!

The Blood of Restoration

Waiting: The Highest Expression of Trust

Ps Larry powerfully declared,

“Waiting on the Lord is the highest expression of trust in God.”

It’s not about being passive, but about active preparation. During this “waiting period,” God is actively preparing us, restoring us, and getting us ready for the next amazing thing He wants to bring into our lives. He’s healing past wounds, shaping our character, and giving us the wisdom we need to handle the blessings coming our way. As Ps Larry put it,

“The Lord is renovating me!” Why? “Because He’s got a better season for me.”

When we truly wait on the Lord, we become unshakable. No matter what storms rage around us – the enemy’s schemes, desperate circumstances, personal struggles – our foundation in Christ remains firm.

“The more I wait on the Lord: the stronger I get, the more unshakable I become. The more I wait on the Lord, the more solid I’m intertwined in him.”

This waiting means acknowledging God as our only source. No longer do we look to salaries, people, or empty promises for our provision or peace. Our trust is solely in Him, our Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Nissi, and Jehovah Shalom. This declaration of dependence strengthens our faith and keeps us in a place of humility.

Scriptures to Anchor Your Wait

Ps Larry reminded us of powerful scriptures that underscore this vital truth:

Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

  • What a promise of supernatural strength and endurance!

Psalm 62:1-2

“Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation… He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.” And further in Psalm 62:5-6: “My soul waits silently for God alone; For my expectation is from Him only. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.”

  • Notice the progression from “greatly moved” to “not be moved” as we continue to wait. This is the stability God brings!

Psalm 25:1-5 NKJV

“To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”

  • Our waiting is a seeking after His ways and a confident expectation of deliverance.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

  • This is the foundation for navigating life when we don’t have all the answers.

Psalm 37:7-11

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; indeed, you will look carefully for their place, and it will be no more. But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”

  • This reminds us not to be moved by the world’s chaos or temporary prosperity of the wicked.

Implementing Waiting in Your Life

So, how do we put this powerful truth into action?

  • Focus on God ONLY: This silences the noise of the world and our own anxious thoughts. It prepares our spirit to hear the Holy Spirit.
  • Avoid Hasty Actions: Resist the urge for carnal impulses. Instead, come with humility before God, evaluating your own motives.
  • Recognise God’s Sovereignty: Understand that God can do what He wants, when He wants, how He wants. His ways are higher, and His timing is perfect.
    • As Ps Larry said,
“Doing the right thing at the wrong time is the same as doing the wrong thing.”
  • Depend on Him for EVERYTHING: This cultivates true humility and acknowledges that only God can bring true restoration.

Remember,  “Your mind, your will, and your emotions are not saved… Because your mind needs to be saved. How? By renewing it to the Word.” This is a process of restoration, and God is faithful to complete it.

God’s desire is to restore you in every area of your life so you can be an agent of restoration for others. There’s a powerful ministry waiting on the other side of your personal restoration. As Ps Larry affirmed,

“God’s not finished with you yet!” Your best days are ahead because “God is busy!”
