Good morning, Rhema Family!
What a powerful service we had on Sunday, 6 June 2025! Ps Mandy Elliott brought us a life‑changing message in our series “The Blood Applied.”
While Ps Larry was out in Lenasia spreading the gospel throughout Africa, Ps Mandy reminded us of our unshakable foundation right here at home. Her sermon, The Blood of Identity, unpacked the incredible truth of who we are because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
Unveiling Your True Self | The Blood of Identity
Ever heard the saying, “Blood is thicker than water”? Ps Mandy explained that the original proverb actually points to something far more profound for us believers:
“The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.”
In other words, our eternal, unbreakable covenant with God through the precious blood of Jesus Christ transcends every earthly tie.
Last week, we learned how to apply the blood of purpose from Jesus’ feet. Today, we discover how The Blood of Identity cements our new standing as children of God.
Seven Life‑Changing Benefits of His Blood
Ps Mandy walked us through seven amazing realities we live in because of the blood Jesus shed:
- Forgiveness: “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Heb 9:22). His blood completely washes away our guilt.
- Cleansing: Our consciences gain peace as sin’s stain vanishes.
- Redemption: We’re bought back from darkness into His marvellous light.
- Justification: Declared righteous—He sees us as if we’d never sinned.
- Sanctification: We’re set apart as special vessels for His holy use.
- Peace: Even in life’s fiercest storms, we stand secure because Calvary decided the outcome.
- Access to the Throne: The blood tore the veil in two, giving us bold, unhindered entry into God’s presence.
These aren’t just heady concepts: they’re the foundation for everyday victory!
A Covenant Like No Other | Married to Christ
To illustrate our new identity, Ps Mandy painted a beautiful picture of marriage. In a sacred union, blood signifies an unbreakable covenant. Likewise, when we come under Jesus’ blood, we enter a divine marriage covenant with Him—one He will never break.
“He pursues us, fights for us, and draws us close,” she said. “As His bride, we stand pure, spotless, and ready for His return.”
Indeed, 1 John 5:6‑8 confirms this: “This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ… the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.”
Just as water and blood testified to His identity, the Spirit bears witness in our hearts, assuring us of our place at His side.
No More Sin, Only Righteousness
Hebrews 9:22 reminds us that “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” But here’s the mind‑blowing part: once we’re under the blood of Jesus, God no longer sees our sin. He sees His perfect, cleansing blood covering us.
“Our sins are thrown into the sea of forgetfulness—remembered no more!” Ps Mandy declared.
This truth changes everything. It not only secures our identity, but it directs our steps. Last week’s focus on the blood of purpose frees our feet; this week’s revelation about identity gives those feet confident direction.
United in Christ | A New Belonging
Beyond personal freedom, The Blood of Identity unites us as one body.
Galatians 3:26‑28 proclaims: “For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith… there is neither Jew nor Greek… for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
When we gather, there’s an undeniable oneness—spirit cries out to spirit. Whether you’re a lifelong member, or visiting for the first time, you share this new family bond.
Living It Out | Practical Steps
Ps Mandy challenged us to move from knowledge to action:
- Speak it daily. Wake up and declare, “I am forgiven, cleansed, redeemed, righteous, sanctified, at peace, and bold to enter God’s presence!”
- Share your story. In your small group or over coffee, tell one person how the blood of Jesus changed you.
- Dive into worship. Bring your childlike faith to Big Church for Kids—they’re learning God’s love in fun, interactive ways.
- Connect with our pastors. Get to know Ps Larry, Ps Mandy, and the rest of our leadership team here.
- Hit replay. If you missed any point, watch “The Blood of Identity” again.
By doing these, we won’t just hear the truth—we’ll live it.
